markhp
I received my v.7 Mapsource update and went through the installation process including paying them $75 for the unlock code. However after the program goes through the installation procedure I get this error message from InstallShield: InstallShield 1628 : Failed to complete installation I then click on the MS shortcut and get the following Mapsource Error: There is a problem with the MapSource registry Please re-install MapSource and start it again. (After several attempts I realize trying to reinstall the program multiple times is not going to "fix" the problem... ) I believe this originates back to a conflict with the Windows Installer Program... Anybody got any (constructive) ideas???? BTW I running XP, with service pack 2. I have my virus software and firewall disabled for the install... thanx... +Miragee
Do you have a good Registry editor like JV16? Maybe if you cleaned out all references to Garmin and Mapsource in the Registry, the software would install correctly. I have Win2000 Pro and have not had any problems installing Mapsource updates, but I haven't tried the most recent update yet. Quote Link to comment
+webscouter.
IF you deleted your original program it may give you this error. Quote Link to comment
