bsterix
Hi, on my listing of "nearest caches" there is normaly a direction and a distance.. e.g.: NE 35km At one Cache the direction is missing!! 34.7km (1/1.5) 3 Sep 05 Rocket Park by KukiHN (GCQDD2) is this a bug in the GC software or a bug in the cachedescription? I thinks it looks like a bug in GC! The "problem cache" has nearly the same E-coord as my home location. Maybe this results in a problem of direction calculation? Maybe it could be fixed somehow. Thanks bsterix Link to comment
BigFurryMonster
Can you provide us with a URL to the 'problem page'? Link to comment
Jester2112
Hmmm, it shows up on mine: NE 4876.5mi from your home coordinates. Now that's what I'd consider a cach adventure. Link to comment
bsterix
Can you provide us with a URL to the 'problem page'? When I (i suppose only i with MY special home-coords!) open the Cache GCQDD2 or a listing wich includes this cache, then i get no direktion. If other users (i suppose with other home coords!) look at this cache its quite ok. I think other users may observe this problem with other caches. Now i found something as good as a "problem page link": http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...73333333333&f=1 an then "page 6" Cache GCQDD2 has no direction (quite its exactly north of my home) Edited September 20, 2005 by bsterix Link to comment

Jester2112
If you're asking that I click on your link and go to page 20 and shouldn't see any distances listed, sorry, I still see the distances. Cache #1 on that page is Fauler Sack (GCMGYD) and is showing: SW 21mi. Link to comment
PeterNoG
I tried page 20 for you and yes, Rocket Park shows up with no direction. Link to comment
Jester2112
I tried page 20 for you and yes, Rocket Park shows up with no direction. ooops, missed the fact that Rocket Park was on that page. You're correct, I get no direction/distance either, however, when I check it under my ID, it shows up again. Is this like the question about if you're standing on the North Pole with a compass what does it do? Link to comment
beejay&esskay
The "no direction" problem has been known for some time. It happens when the cache is "exactly" north or south of the origin. Jeremy has thought he fixed it in the past, but clearly hasn't. (If he sees this thread, clearly your "page 20" example of failure should be used to verify a good fix.) Link to comment
