+Panda Fan
I use to know of a place on the old Smoky Mountain Geocaching website were I could find out about placing caches on TVA land i.e. Foster Falls which is run by TVA. Does anyone know of TVA regulations about geocaching? Quote Link to comment
Max Cacher
TVA has no objection to the geocaching activity based on understanding of the following conditions: (1) There will be no site disturbance, illegal substances or uses involving the geocaching on the TVA property. (2) Cashes will not be placed in or near restricted areas, dams, power generation facilities or equipment, substation sites, gated or signed areas, and/or transmission line sites, etc. (3) TVA retain the rights to terminate this permission for the use of the TVA property at any time. (4) This permission conveys no property rights, grants no exclusive use, and in no way restricts the general public's privilege of using TVA public land. (5) TVA assumes no liability and undertakes no obligation or duty (in tort, contract, strict liability, or otherwise) to you or to any third party for any damages to property (real or personal) or personal injuries (including death) arising out of or in any way connected with your performance of activities which are the subject of this statement of no objection. +Panda Fan
I am planning on putting a cache in a Campground/Hiking area that TVA oversees. So is that saying I don't nessisaraly have to get permission? Quote Link to comment
Max Cacher
Its always best to ask, they are very nice folks, ask any TVA policeman. Thay just want to know where they are at. from the guidelines: “”By submitting a cache listing, you assure us that you have adequate permission to hide your cache in the selected location. However, if we see a cache description that mentions ignoring "No Trespassing" signs (or any other obvious issues), your listing may be immediately archived.”” Max Cacher Quote Link to comment
+Spencersb
As usual, Max is on top of things! TVA just sent me a very friendly response to my inquiry citing the wording Max posted above! BZ to TVA for a good, common sense approach! Quote Link to comment
