luvlasvegas
Hi Folks, The more I look at these 2, the more I want to purchase one of them. It's hard to wait for the 'perfect' unit and I've always liked the PDA GPS units. Just not sure which one is better. The M3 or M5? I know the M3 has less of a processor but I hear it's better for battery life also and is much cheaper....not sure...please help. Thx. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
I saw one of these at Office Depot, took one look at the price and wondered why someone would spend that much for a "fragile" PDA instead of a durable, waterproof GPSr. If you have that kind of money to spend on the PDA/GPS unit, I would be sure to get an "Otter box" for it, unless you only try to find the easy-terrain caches. I've dropped my GPSr, and my Palm M500. Both are still functioning, but I have a hard case for the Palm. If I someday drop the Palm in a creek, I'm only out $39.00 . . . Quote Link to comment
luvlasvegas
True. Although I'll have to buy a case for it I guess. Still want to know which unit is superior to the other. Would be nice if they were a little cheaper...agreed. Quote Link to comment

yeeoldcacher
A cfque 1640?, has Garmin released an update to the 1620? Is this perhaps a sd gps unit? Quote Link to comment
luvlasvegas
Hi I find the GUI a lot nicer on the PDA's. Graphics are nicer also and you have the option of using the PDA if you want. Edited August 5, 2005 by luvlasvegas Quote Link to comment
+hoxbox
I did some research into these. M5 has a faster processor and bluetooth. However to protect these you'll need something like Otterbox 3600. Which is one pound at 8.5'x5.25'x2.4' before adding the PDA. If Garmin made a ruggized version of these I'd be all over it. Quote Link to comment
