Thrak
When I look at the product pages on the Garmin site I don't see any easy "compare these models" pages. Many products have a "C" and a "CS" model. Can anybody tell me the main difference between the units? Quote Link to comment
Cache Viking
Try this Garmin Product Comparison I hope it helps and is what you are looking for. Quote Link to comment
Thrak
Ahhhhh.... thank you. The main difference between the C and the CS seems to be the electronic compass and altimiter. I know some feel the electronic compass is a waste but it seems like it would be a very nice feature when near the cache. You could leave it off and use the normal compass feature until then and not have such a battery drain. Thanks again for the link - my brain just wasn't catching the differences. It seems that the electronic compass is a pretty costly addition. Quote Link to comment
IVxIV
Typically with Garmin the "C" stands for "Compass", and the "S" stands for Sensor (altimeter, barometer, etc..) Quote Link to comment
Cornix
Typically with Garmin the "C" stands for "Compass", ... I always thought the "C" stands for "Color" ... Cornix Quote Link to comment
IVxIV
ooops! Right your are. "C" is for color Quote Link to comment
Langner91
Great, now all I can hear is cookie monster singing "C is for Cookie"... It's gonna be a long day. Quote Link to comment
Sputnik 57
I'll add battery life to the differences. The compass and altimeter in the CS use batteries a bit faster that in the C. As you mentioned, you can turn the compass off until you slow down to the point where the standard compass page stops updating. Quote Link to comment

Biggest thing most miss about the differences is that the cs has a vertical trip computer as well. The C doesn't have vertical data. Much of it anyway. Quote Link to comment
scott9282
I believe the "S" in CS stands for sensor. As in compass and barometer/altimeter. Or, it could be silly cacher, pay more. Either way works for me. Dyed in the wool non-battery compass user here. Quote Link to comment
