Willdawg
I'm working on a research project but I'm struggling to find any technical information on GPS transceivers, if anyone had any advice AT ALL or sites that they could point to it would be much appreciated. Many thanks Will Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
First off they are receivers only, just go to a main search engine like ask.com and type in GPS and see what you get. Quote Link to comment
Willdawg
I mean actual tranceivers, as in suitable for tracking, basically the working part behind Whereifys devices Quote Link to comment
+Greymane
Whereify works like many other tracking programs and uses cell phone networks for the "transmitter" part of the package. The problem is that if you don't have a cell phone signal, the device is useless. I use Memory-Map Navigator which has a tracking capability to it. It, too, uses a cell phone for transmitting, but I can get around that with a satellite phone (which gives me coverage almost anywhere). Quote Link to comment
+JohnnyVegas
You could use this device tiny track 3 with any gps that has a com port, but it will require a ham radio license and you would not be able to use it for commercial use as it It only works on ham radio frequencies. In the USA the Ham radio tec. license is very easy to get, in NZ you would have to check with your local radio authorityNZ ham radio information, or you could even check with a local ham radio club.
