dingermcduff
I always have a few cache ideas in my mind and I want to be prepared when that bit of inspiration hits me to hide one. I also do maintenance on other people's caches when appropriate. To these ends, I carry a kit in my rusty Chevrolet. Here's what I got: A couple of ammo boxes Ziploc bags (the good kind w/the sliding deal) Waterproof match containers Camoflage tape Pencils Pencil sharpeners Tree tags like you find at nurseries (great for multis) Sharpies and garden markers Hide-a-keys High test braid and mono fishing line (for suspending micros) Little spiral log books Stash notes Swag Small waterproof containers Paper Clear tape for laminating clues Knife Thinking about adding: A couple of FTF scratch off tickets Disposable camera Some unique containers Any other ideas? +Gecko1
This would be handy for replacing plundered caches. Edited August 2, 2005 by Gecko1 Quote Link to comment
LSUMonica
Everything you have listed except the ammo can is in a small nylon backpack (that I picked up at the dollar store) that I call my "cache maintenance" kit. I also bring a pair of scissors/or wire cutters, a screwdriver and screws, gardening gloves (for reaching in icky places ) and a small pack of tissue (for drying out caches). Quote Link to comment
One of the Texas Vikings
I, in my fishing vest, have tape, wire, and imitation leatherman (naugahydeman) string, etc. for fixing caches. So far have only had to do a little mopping out. Rick Quote Link to comment
badlands
So far just zip-loc type bags (and I've used a bunch), but I like your idea.....fixing up a cache would be much nicer than just e-mailing the owner that the log book has the consistency of a spit wad and that gold fish have taken up residence in the container. +Rick618
Add a bottle of super glue, comes in handy to re-glue magnets to clues or cache containers. I've fixed 2-3 over the last couple of days. Quote Link to comment
reveritt
I carry geocache labels, too. Quote Link to comment
Pork King
I have more "cache maintenence" items in my cache bag than swag. match safes, camo tape, pencils/logbooks, stash notes, ziplocks, etc, etc, etc... Sometimes, I find another thing I could have used to fix a cache so I add it to the lot when I get home. Quote Link to comment
Ps_Cuzz
I too carry my own maintenace kit of sorts. Ziplocks, tupperware containers, knife, flashlight, gloves, black and camo tape, small containers, pencils and of course you need the swag. Unfortunately I have found many a muggled cache on my treks so far. All others that I have read so far are also good ideas!! Quote Link to comment
