jeffdks
According to the manual when you navigate to a geocache the compass page changes to "Geocache Navigation" mode. Which will give you 3 choices along the bottom of the screen, "Found" "Data" "Stop". Mine never changes to this it just stays a normal Compass screen. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? The Unit is a Garmin 76CS and everything else seems to be working fine. I downloaded the info from Geocaching.com and uploaded it to the 76cs using EasyGPS. I did have to go and change the "symbol" in EasyGPS from "Waypoint" to "Geocache" before the 76cs would recognize it as a geocache instead of a normal Waypoint. Anyone have any ideas or had this problem before? Thanks, Quote Link to comment
+webscouter.
There is a set up screen for the geocaching mode, you can pick any one symbol for a geocache and any one for geocache found. Once you do that the selections will show up. Quote Link to comment
+JPatton
The geocaching mode only works when the unit is set to "off-road". You can set the unit to prompt you for on or off road when you set a goto under Routing on the Main Menu. Quote Link to comment

jeffdks
Great, that did it. The only problem is it sets a straight line to the cache. If I need to use autorouting to get to the cache site, once there I would change over to Off Road find the cache and then I could mark it as found. Is that correct? Thanks for your help! Hi Sputnik 57, I decided on the 76CS it's an amazing machine. Thanks for your help earlier! Edited July 10, 2005 by jeffdks Quote Link to comment
Neo_Geo
Go ahead and use autorouting to get your car to parking. When you get out of the car to grab the cache, go to the map page on the GPSr and press the "MENU" button. Select "RECALCULATE" and press "ENTER" - then select "OFF ROAD". Quote Link to comment
jeffdks
Hi Neo_Geo You seem to be bailing me out a lot, Thank you! That works great. My wife and I found our first cache today! It was a lot of fun! I think we are really going to enjoy this. Thanks to everyone! Quote Link to comment
