+chamois-shimi & special K
Does anyone know if there's ever been a cache on Hobbit Trail or Hobbit Beach? I've been scouring the db and can't find any that are current, anyway. It seems like a really good place for one, just thinking on it, but I can't remember what the land manager is, etc, for the spot. Quote Link to comment
+DoodleCat & MisterKrrk
Is that near Yachats? I know there are a few caches in that area but I don't recall any of them mentioning the Hobbit Trail. Quote Link to comment
MarcusArelius
Just open a geocaching.com map for the area and check the box that says: "List Archived/Disabled Caches" Quote Link to comment

On cache maps all I can see are: Traditional Cache Multicache Event/CITO Cache Mystery Cache Letterbox Webcam Cache Virtual Cache Travel Bugs You Found/Own* New (last 7 days) and then Pan, Zoom, Zoom Out and Identify at the bottom- of which the only thing I can check is Identify. On regional maps, there's only Zoom In, Zoom Out, Pan and Identify. And Identify just gives current caches. Quote Link to comment

I think it might be in Carl Washburne State Park, but I'm not positive. Quote Link to comment

+chubby forest monkey
The Hobbit trail is in Washburne state park, just north of Heceta head. There are no caches in that park, there is one at the Ponsler Wayside to the North and Devil's Elbow to the South. OR state parks allows geocaching, you do not need a permit. They do monitor cache sites and will notify you if there is a problem- You can see the Holman Wayside logs for an example of one situation where the cache owner worked with the parks dept on a safety issue. When you place your cache, I recommend stopping at Alice's Rabbit Hole, south of Cape Perpetua. Rabbits have the same habits as hobbits! Quote Link to comment
