How can I delete a map

I have a Garmin Legend and was wondering if it is possible to delete a map I downloaded into it from mapsource metroguide 4.I downloaded 4 map areas and wish to delete 1 and replace it with another ?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I am a newbie and only got my Legend 8 days ago.

Specify the new map set, with all the maps you really want, and download that set.

That's the only way. You cannot edit a set of maps once it's inside the GPS. Only reload another on top of it.

My GPS V seems to delete the existing set of maps then and downloads the new set.

It sounds like you've got plenty of room to load all five map segments.

 

If you can load all map segments, you can turn on or off the individual map segments using the "Setup Map" option on the map page.

I have a similar question, only I have a Magellan Sporttrak map. I downloaded Mapsend Topo into it and now I dont want it on there because I dont use the software. Can it be deleted somehow?

It can. I did it on my ST Color the other day. Since that map is loaded by default, you have to change back to the regular map in order to delete it since it's "in use". Can't remember which way I did it, but I think I did MENU->MAP UTILITIES. The menu option is gone now for me so can't give you the exact directions but it CAN be done.
