They are all good.

Rules to live by for 'cheap'.

Make sure it comes with a compuer cable or you can get a cable for it. Factor that cable into the price.

That's it. Now you can ponder Magellan vs. Garmin.

eTrex Venture should come with a cable. eTrex yellow is ok but you ahve to get the cable sepearate. Magellan fans can speak about Magellan.

Wherever you go there you are.

I checked out the auction web sites before I bought mine to get an idea of used versus new. We also checked Pawn Shops in the area, no luck there, but your area may have more to offer. We ended up buying an Etrex Legend new. We decided on the Legend because we had the extra money at the time. If we hadn't had the money we would have gone with the yellow Extrex (not sure of the official name). The best advice I can give is to try them all. Maybe you could find a local cacher who would let you go out with them a few times so that you could try out theirs. Or goto an Event Cache where you can meet the local cachers and ask them questions and see examples on their GPSr. Lots of options.
