  1. I'm a red headed Female geocacher but you can cross the snow bunny part off my list, I'm in Central Texas. No snow here just sun and 100 degree temps.
  2. BIDBOY Another site similar to Whowouldbuythat.com is BidBoy.com
  3. Icy loves to go caching, though she has a bit of an attitude towards anything that doesn't look like her or us. She is mean enough to scare of the meanest cat, HA, but she is still prissy enough that we have to carry her over water.
  4. You should try making the pictures alittle smaller so that they upload faster. You may be loosing connection during the transfer. Even a small glitch in connection can disrupt the upload.
  5. That's alittle crazy on the eyes. But it does look cool! It looks like you do alot of good graphics.
  6. Maybe she won't want to go after she gets into all of the ticks, mosquitos, chiggers, poison ivy & oak and it only gets worse as it gets hotter.
  7. Wow bummer... It has been my experience that once the files or emails have been cleaned off the server they are gone and can not be recalled. Have you checked the sent box and the deleted items? There may be a way to change your preferences on how long things are kept so this doesn't happen again.
  8. quote:Both of my boys have been carrying a knife (where legal) since the age of 10. I would consider them children, and more responsible then many adults. At what age would you DEEM it appropriate for our youth to begin learning how to use and respect sharp tools? I do not think that age is a factor here. There are many teenagers that I wouldn't give butter knives to. It is up to the parents to educate their children on these such matters. Unfortunately not all parents do so, as most of you out there in the forums have done. This subject has been hashed out in these forums many times. The only conclusion that I can draw from it, is that people disagree on what is appropriate. People are going to leave what they want. Therefore I will leave what I feel is appropriate and I will remove what I feel is inappropriate. We all have the right to remove as much as we all have the right to place.
  9. Not that this has happened to me while caching, yet... But wait until you have a Momma Raccoon hiss and chase you while you are trying to clear brush and she is trying to protect her young. That happened last month in Oklahoma. Boy was she mad. I'm just waiting to come across one while caching. Animals like that scare me something bad.
  10. Ummm Yeah... I was gonna say, maybe the cache was placed in the winter. But then I remember you said evergreen. But my suggestion could work for some winter placed caches. When searching for caches in April I noticed that it was easier to get closer to the caches in February when there were no leaves on the trees.
  11. I once knew a chick from Oklahoma who put raw peanuts in a Coca-Cola. After she drank the Coke she ate the peanuts. YUCK!! I like peanuts as much as the next guy but in Coke, and raw??
  12. Why is there such a problem with not leaving knives in caches? A rule is a rule. Why not just keep the knives to our selves? The are soooo many other things you can leave. Granted there is no one looking over your shoulder as you place your goodies but why not just stick with something that is less controversial. If I see a knive in a cache I WILL take it. Not because I want it but because I DON'T want a child to get a hold of it.
  13. The only problem I can see with Lighters is... What if someone plunders the cache, finds a lighter then (suddenly has a bright idea) proceeds to burn down the area in which the cache is hidden. Not that this has happened, to my knowledge, but Better safe than sorry... We don't need any accidents.
  14. I checked out the auction web sites before I bought mine to get an idea of used versus new. We also checked Pawn Shops in the area, no luck there, but your area may have more to offer. We ended up buying an Etrex Legend new. We decided on the Legend because we had the extra money at the time. If we hadn't had the money we would have gone with the yellow Extrex (not sure of the official name). The best advice I can give is to try them all. Maybe you could find a local cacher who would let you go out with them a few times so that you could try out theirs. Or goto an Event Cache where you can meet the local cachers and ask them questions and see examples on their GPSr. Lots of options.
  15. How successful is this in getting a cache approved?
  16. quote:Originally posted by carleenp:http://www.fakerock.com/Default.htm Geez... Some of these are expensive! http://outbreakcorp.hypermart.net/animation/pokemon/pokeanim3.gif Yeah thats them. I figure if you stick it out in the middle of a forest with no other rocks around it would look out of place, but if you were to place it near a creek bed or some place similar it may blend in more.
  17. One my first day of caching I found one within 10 feet of another. Both had been signed by alot of people but only one had a name for it. I signed both... maybe the one with out a name had not been approved and the owners didn't go out to pick it up.
  18. There is a cache like that here in Texas Locked, Stocked and Buried It requires you to find a key in a cache somewhere in the city. The key has the co-ords to a locked box listed on its tag. After you find the locked box you hide the key in another location. It looks as though alot of people have enjoyed it. I have yet to get my hands on a key....
  19. They sell those pipe covers that are shaped and painted to look like a large rock at home repair stores. I admit that they look kind of fake, but you maybe able to paint it or something to make it blend in with the surrounding area. I believe it is large enough to fit an ammo can under.
