+PNWWizard
Is there a list of the emoticons used in these fourms? I know the basic ones, but many I don't know. And why are some green? I've found some emoticon "definitions" on the web, but not all the ones I see here. Link to comment
Jeremy
Not sure exactly what you mean, but if you click "show all" to the left of the box you use to post a response, you'll get them all. There is no standard for emoticons that I know of. Link to comment
Keystone
The green ones are Signal the Frog, who is Geocaching.com's "mascot" to convey the idea of high-tech outdoors adventure. Signal is depicted displaying many of the same emotions represented in the more traditional yellow smiley faces. To see the "official" name of a smiley emoticon, hover your mouse over it in the box, and (if your browser works like mine) in many cases its "title" will show up in the bar at the bottom of your browser, like "mad" or "blink" or "unsure." Basically you should just choose the one that best illustrates the meaning of the words it accompanies. Link to comment
+PNWWizard
Thanks Keystone, that's what I wanted. I did notice the names on the bar, but it doesn't show the name of all the yellow ones, and I didn't want to use a green one without knowing what they represent! Link to comment
Jeremy
Heh. You make it sound like they're radioactive Link to comment
+MrCOgeo
And just to add a definition on a definition: <- ph34r is for fear (get it?) (or a top-down view of a yellow lego brick, as somebody said a while back!) Link to comment
+PNWWizard
I had wondered about the fear one! I thought it looked like someone using binoculars! And no, I didn't think the green ones were radioactive (LOL) but I made the mistake in another forum of using an emoticon I didn't understand and got blasted! Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
is fear, but it also shows that the person is hiding, maybe from the response they're likely to receive Link to comment
ju66l3r
I always likened ph34r ( ) to a ninja... Silently...like the wind...they move in shadow and then toss out a fearful SNIPE! And then away again! Link to comment
Jeremy
man I dislike script kiddies. but the deal always tickled me. Link to comment
