If not, what other software will I need? Thank you Edited July 18, 2004 by talon2525 Quote Link to comment
+Centex Trekker
I download mine to EasyGPS and then download them to the GPS. Then I upload them from the GPS to Mapsource. If you have v1.3.7, you have the ability (along with lots of choices) for changing the waypoint symbol globally. Quote Link to comment
robertlipe
Two tools for converting waypoint files from geocaching.com to mapsource are http://www.iancowley.co.uk/caching/ and http://gpsbabel.sourceforge.net Quote Link to comment
+TresOkies
Of the two programs that Robert mentioned, EasyMPS is easier to use, but GPSBabel is far more powerful. It depends on your level of experience and willingness to 'tweak' things. If all you want to do is open a LOC or GPX file in MapSource, then EasyMPS is the way to go. If you want to manipulate the file prior to opening it in MapSource, GPSBabel will let you do that (and more). FWIW, LOC files contain just slightly more than the bare minimum you need for geocaching. They have waypoint information and that's about it. GPX files are rich in information about the caches, the types, recent logs, etc. It's definitely worth becoming a paying member for this one feature. Especially if you find yourself in the middle of a field on a puzzle or offset cache and you have no idea what it is you are supposed to be looking for. Good luck out there. -E Quote Link to comment
talon2525
Thank you for the info. I have recieved my Mapsource. Its a pretty good program just has old maps. ( at least 5 years old probably older) I already found out about useing my GPSr as a go-between. It works but it is still alot of steps. I will check out the programs mentioned. Thank you for your time Scott Quote Link to comment
talon2525
I just found out that GSAK suports the format transfer. This allows me to use this as a Place to store my caches and also to transfer them to my Mapsource. Since I already use this there is no need for another program. Again thank you for the replys Quote Link to comment
