Help With Waypoints With My Garmin 72

I'm somewhat new to geocahing(Started Jan of this year)- I would like to start a few of my own caches, but I don't understand how to get the waypoints looking like this example (GCCD12). when I mark coords on my garmin 72 it just comes up as 017 - how do I get them like (GCCD12) ...Please and thanks

The GCXXX is a "number" that will be assigned by GC.com when you submit your 'cache page for approval.

When you create a waypoint and don't specify a name for it a number is automatically assigned as the name.

Thanks for the input- I was thinking it was some setting on my GPS that I didn't learn yet.. Cool- be on the look out for one from me in the Clearwater,Fl area soon..
