Gsp 60cs With Topo Usa???

I am new to GPS, and was wondering if anyone knew how to get the topo USA maps from the computer onto your GPS device. I have tried to export them, but it says that I need a serial connection, and the 60CS is connected through a USB port.

 

If anyone has any experiense with this and could help me figure out how this is done, that would be greatly appreciated.

 

Also, if it can't be done direclty from the software, is there a 3rd party software that would make this possible by converting it to be compatible with Mapsource.

Version 6 may help but isn't needed. I have the current version of MapSend Topo USA and it works great with my 60CS. The upload button is a drop down menu. Be sure USB is selected.

Yes, the MapSource program that came with the 60CS will support the USB upload, but you need to make sure USB is selected as the preferred method of upload.

maps from Topo USA will NOT load into your gps. The only ones you can put into your gps are the ones you get from Garmin.

Nope - not needed, but the new autodetect feature eliminates any confusion over USB or serial connection.

There are other vendors that makes map to use with Garmin GPS, so the correct answer is that the Maps to load to Garmin GPS has to be compatible with Garmin protocol (f.eks maps that loads with Mapsource)
