Yes, I know this has been brought up before. In fact I even started a thread last year. But it quickly fell off page one and just maybe there are a few new posters out there willing to help my cause. So before you start Markwelling or posting equine comix listen up! :D

Some of you already know that the NC Parks and Recreation has a pretty restrictive policy on placing caches in our state parks here. :D

I have an opportunity to open a diologue with them. The introduction will come from the top down, and there has been a change in this agency's senior management since the policy was created. My goal is to modify our existing state policy to be more cache-friendly. Please send links to state or municipal agencies, or regional caching groups with pro caching feelings/policies already in effect. I will review and edit them so I have the best possible info to present at my meeting with TPTB in our state government agencies. My timeline is short; 2-4 weeks to make this happen, and then I will let it fall off of page one again.

Now back to your regularly scheduled sandbox............

I really wish you luck on this. Here in Beaufort County and many of the poor counties in the east, we don't have any walking trails or greenways except for Goose Creek State Park.

I think you wanted the Kerry thread, brian. But thanks for finding the WMD for GWB!! It turns out they were in St. Johns, FL all the time...whodathunk it?

Looks like Jul66l3r is someone who can't change his mind and won't change the subject. What exactly do you call someone like that?

Anyway, here is a quote form PA's DNR website:

Many miscellaneous activities occur on state forest land. These include astronomy, dog sledding, geocaching, gold panning, jogging, hang gliding, ice-skating, orienteering, photography, rock climbing, rappelling, sleigh riding, sledding, snowboarding, snowshoeing, spelunking, swimming, snorkeling and tubing. All of these activities are permitted unless they are in conflict with State Forest Rules and Regulations (17. Pa. Code, Chapter 21).

In practice, caches on PA state park land require a free permit. Perhaps someone from PA can fill you in on all the rules that accompany the permit, but generally I hear they are pretty geocaching friendly.

NJ state parks don't have any rules at the moment, but this log from a park ranger is pretty encouraging:

Hey wimsey, I just moved to NC (Charlotte) and even posted a question in the Southeast section here about rules for the area. Honeychile posted some things about the NC State Parks. Please keep me abreast of whatever happens. I will try to keep an eye out here, but don't want to miss anything!
