programmer64 Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Now I know everyone hates Locationless caches,But if there is no stipulation that it can only be logged once how many times can you log it? The one I am refering to is Yall stop fighting now The intention is to log markers for the mason dixon line. there are many near me as I live in SE PA. each stone is in a different location, at least a mile apart, I put a good amount of time in hiking to these markers and wonder what everyone thinks. I have already logged several. Quote
canadazuuk Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 The generally accepted custom is one log per cacher per cache. In this instance, I personally don't see any reason to alter from the generally accepted custom. Quote

I thought as much but enjoy logging the markers, perhaps I'll go back and change 3 logs to notes so others can log them. Quote
sbell111 Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 (edited) First, everyone doesn't hate LCs. Some do and they tend to be quite vocal about it. (Check about five responses down in this thread.) Second, my feeling is that the cache owner should decide whether multiple finds are appropriate. If it's OK with him, why should I care. I logged one twice (carillons). There are three carillons in Nashville. The most obvious one was logged and I logged another. A month or two went by and I asked the owner if it would be OK for me to log the third. The owner said OK, so I logged it. Since all LCs have been around for a while, others have had a chance to log them. Therefore, if its OK with the owner, its OK with me. I kind of disagree with that. I'm sure there are going to be some new cachers in the local area this year. I'm not sure there's going to be any new locationless caches for them. So even if I could log a particular cache twice, I think I'd rather leave it for the new guy. Quote
woodsters Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Do what you said you were going to do. Log one and make notes of the others. It's one cache. It would be the same as me going to the local Jeep dealership that has 10 yellow jeeps and logging each one of them and then going to another and doing the same. It's your numbers do what you want. But don't be surprised if a cache owner deletes some. Quote
programmer64 Posted March 9, 2004 Author Posted March 9, 2004 went back made finds notes, now someone else can log the ones I found. Thecoords are there, and all are right near other caches. Quote

bigredmed Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 There is an LC called Waterloo all over the World. This has been logged a bunch by various cachers, but only once per location. The Mason Dixon line runs for a long way. If you wanted to log a particularly pretty area or an interesting area (say the line cuts a store in half), go for it. If someone has beaten you to it, then you need to log a different one. Quote
programmer64 Posted March 10, 2004 Author Posted March 10, 2004 Some of the markers are pretty interesting in themselves, but thats a whole different story. anyway the cache owner when contacted asked me to save some for others so I will. Anyone living in the PA,DE,MD area should check out my notes. The coords for several are there so it would be an easy find. Quote
woodsters Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Ah...but the Yellow Jeep Cache says "no dealer lots" i wouldn't know, I haven't claimed it... Quote
JohnnyVegas Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 If the owner has no problem with log it more than one time, why not. You still have to go find them. We had a moving cache in my area that you were allowed to log more than one time so some of did each time we found it, now it's about 500 miles away. That was afun cache while in the area lots of cacher racing to it every day. to bad new ones are not allowed, i would like to see them brought back. Quote
