+hikemeister
I really like the geocaching maps, and nearly always print out one with a cluster of caches labelled when I go to an area to search. However, the geocaching map is quite small. How difficult would it be to set up the geocaching map in a similar manner to that used by Microsoft for their mappoint maps, where you have a 'print' icon to click on that opens a new page with just the map, in a greater size? This would be a great new feature to add to the site if it is feasible. Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
Try this for now: right click and save the map as a picture. Pan the map in each direction and do the same thing. Open your paint/photo program and paste each picture to one file. You can lay them out and splice the maps together to get the area you desire. +Team GPSaxophone
Hmmm...it works from here by clicking the link. I'll try a different computer and check. Maybe it was since I had my file manager open at the time. Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
Ok, I'll edit the link when I get home. It isn't working when I'm not logged in to Geocities. Link to comment
+theboonieman
Yahoo/Geocities won't let you link to an image (.jpg file) from an external website like geocaching.com. That would allow people to bypass their annoying advertisements. Can't have that. You have to link to a web page (.html file) instead. Try the following. http://www.geocities.com/friared1/route66.html Link to comment
+Stunod
I found out how to do it...copy and paste the following URL into a NEW browser window (do not click on it like a link) http://www.geocities.com/friared1/Route66b.JPG Link to comment

+Team GPSaxophone
Duh, I already had a page set up with this: My map page I should have just told you to visit my homepage, there is a link to the map on there. Link to comment
+shunra
Ok, but what's the point? A lot of work, with a non-interactive map as a result, on which you cannot even click to identify caches? The original suggestion of this thread would have real value, and I'd like it, too! Link to comment

A lot of work, with a non-interactive map as a result, on which you cannot even click to identify caches? True, I made this map to show all of my finds from Chicago to L.A. (Get your kicks...) The US Census Dept lets you use their Tiger Mapping service to plot waypoints also. It won't give you cache information either, but it is less cluttered than splicing the GC maps together, and easier I think. Link to comment

Jeremy
This is possible. I'll see what we can do with the map service to get a larger selection. Link to comment

+rickrich
Here is my GIANT scrollable/clickable map of Twin Cities caches. Don't bother unless you have a broadband connection and a lot of memory on your computer. It takes about 60 seconds to load. The actual cache locations are slightly off due to the Tiger Map Server doing strange things at very high resolution. This is a proof of concept and was made with my geo-map command line tool. http://linuxtrade.0catch.com/mngca/big.html -Rick Conspiracy Theory of the Day: the source code for the USGS Tiger Map Server hasn't "been lost" like they claim. Its been deep-sixed by commercial mapping lobby interests. Edited January 18, 2004 by rickrich Link to comment
