+SamLowrey
Did a quick search and found this - http://www.guysnamedkim.com/geocache/geocache_history.html Team360 put a plaque at the original cache location. There was a long thread about it, but that was before the forums changed over. Also, here - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...60149&hl=plaque From the first link - doesn't this seem quaint. http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&...b257f6b&rnum=25 Well, I did it, created the first stash hunt stash and here arethe coordinates: N 45 17.460 W122 24.800 Lots of goodies for the finders. Look for a black plastic bucket buried most of the way in the ground. Take some stuff, leave some stuff! Record it all in the log book. Have Fun! Stash contians: Delorme Topo USA software, videos, books, food, money, and a slingshot! Edited January 7, 2004 by SamLowrey Link to comment
+ChrisCindy
Ahh the history of caching. It's a long and storied past where sea captains and pirates ruled the 7 seas and monsters of the deep...oooopppps wrong thread. Read the history though it's good reading. Link to comment
+Spoo
Hmmmmm......I have just recently read where Norseman (Viking) caches from 900 A.D. are still being found. Silver coins and jewelry for the most part. Unfortunately, no log books ! Edited January 7, 2004 by Spoo Link to comment

+rusty_tlc
My first cache (circa 1963) was a 1# Folgers coffee can under a log halfway to my friends house. The original contents were : kitchen matches, a couple of black cat firecrackers, a pack of smokes, part of a playboy centerfold, a folding knife, and an almost empty can of Cope. Later caches included scotch and a whole Playboy magazine. All the stuff we needed to hide from our Mom's. In my backpacking days we routinely cached food and water on favorite trails. With the exception of water none of these items would be approved in an official geocache today. Times change. Link to comment
