+kodiak_62
I'm still farly new to Geo-cacheing so I'll ask this question. I am headed to a Geo-Cache Event 98 miles away and I have a "NEW" Travel Bug I plan on taking with me. Do I release him in a local cache, then log it in as a find.....then take it with me to the Event? I'd like an accurate starting point on the Travel Bug but didn't know if you could log in your own Travel Bugs. I haven't seen anything against it so far, but I'd like some feedback from my fellow cachers. Anyone have any advice? The event is in 3 days!!!! Link to comment
+Sparky-Watts
You can either find a new cache and "drop" it there and then "pick it up" again (keeping it in your possession, but doing the dropping and picking on the cache page), or you can drop it into a cache you've already visited and pick it up again (once more, done on the cache page). This is completely acceptable and quite often done. That will give you a good baseline starting point to start tracking actual mileage on your bug. Link to comment
+hedberg
Do you have a cache nearby? Drop off the bug there, pick it up and take it with you to the event, and drop if off at the event. No problem. Link to comment
+sturgeongeneral
You will have a great time at the event. I went from California to Texas recently and went to an event. I had a GREAT time, MET THE MOST FANTASTIC PEOPLE, learned some tricks, and traded Travelbugs! Good luck and happy caching!!! Link to comment
+kodiak_62
Thanks, I have a Cache that's not too far away!!! I didn't know if it was ok to log in your own Travel Bugs as a find!!! Is there any others that would like to comment before I close this topic? Link to comment
TimSkells
how is placing your bug a find for you? only way i see it as a find is if your at a cache and you accedently find your own bug again. or if it comes back to your area so you go get it. Link to comment
+bazzle
Either way it does not matter. Grabbing your own bug will not add it to your list of found bugs, it just puts it back in the hands of it's owner. Many of us do this on a regular basis with our personal tracker bugs... Link to comment
+MissJenn
I didn't know if it was ok to log in your own Travel Bugs as a find!!! I don;t see any problems at all - it's your bug after all. For a few months, I had one of my travel bugs that I logged into and out of every cache I went to. Link to comment
+kodiak_62
I was wanting to get a starting point as close to home as possible. My other travel bug started around here and it's on its way....Possible to the same Event Cache. I'd like to see the different "miles traveled" on the two Travel Bugs. I didn't care if it would post a "find" into my log. Thanks for your help! Link to comment
