Sparky-Watts
Sorry I will try better. Just joking around with ya. I doubt I could find my butt without a GPS! I might try it sometime, just for kicks, though. (finding a cache, not my butt!) Quote Link to comment
AC Student
I've only found one without my GPSr. A Sacramento area cacher, 47Dad47, found over 100 without a GPSr, though he uses one now. Quote Link to comment

ironman114
i might use the one on our boat once i go get it i dont know if it will work thought because its for my boat i will see I use a garmin map175. This is one designed mainly for those who boat. It was free, I found it on vacation in a couple of pieces on the side of the road. Put the battery pack back on and played with till I got it to work. If yours on your boat has a built in antenna along with the one that plugs in plus a battery pack, it should work fine. your manual should tell you how to enter waypoints and use the goto button. gps don't care if you are on water or land. Get it, try it, and join the fun. Quote Link to comment
Coffea robusta
Isn't the act of finding a cache without a GPSr called orienteering? Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
I've done a couple without a GPS. Lately I keep losing my GPS so I suspect I'll get better at it. Quote Link to comment

Shanediver
When I came across this site, I was was pretty eager to get a couple under my belt, so I found some that I might be able to find w/o a GPSr. I managed to find three. Now that I finally got me a GPS unit, I try to stick to that without the clues, but I still have to cheat a little now and then. Quote Link to comment
pocketmonster
I had some fun in Houston using satellite images from terrafly.com. I found 7 without a GPS unit. Only two escaped me.. but I don't think a GPS unit would have helped for those two. Just needed some more people and another chance. Quote Link to comment
Coffea robusta
A GPS isn't really necessary. A good map, compass, and orienteering skills are all one needs. I use my GPS and a compass. My fisrt virtual cache...I didn't need the GPS as I lived in the area and new what the cache owner wanted...just an excuse to use my new "toy", I mean navigational aid. Quote Link to comment
evergreenhiker!
A cacher in the top 20 in world rankings....WaldenRun does his caching without a GPS He has over 1200 finds. Quote Link to comment

Capitalpete
Greetings Al, Welcome to Geocaching using a GPS! I am not sure if you have the owners manual with you GPS so I thought I would post a link to the online version of the manual that you can download for free. Find it here, Garmin 75 owners manual. It sort of reminds me of Maxwell Smarts Shoe phone, I am not sure why, but it just does. Anyway, enjoy geocaching! Quote Link to comment

cache_us_if_you_can
We don't have a GPSr of our own and do not always access to one, but we still give it a try anyway. Using maps and a compass we've had some success: about 10 of our 80 finds have been found without a GPSr. Quote Link to comment
