Palm-caching

I've been reading the questions about using a PDA to cache. The questions I have are does anyone here use a Palm 3 to cache? The reason I ask is that I saw mention about the size one one of the files being 2.5 meg. The Palm 3 only has 2 meg. So is the file actually that big? Can I use my Palm 3 for this?

Thanks

Although it depends on the caches (and what you choose to load), they usually aren't quite that big. I get the 500 closest caches to my house with the five most recent logs and it is a little over one meg (once it's in a pdb).

You can't, however, load 2.5 MB onto a Palm that only has 2 MB of memory.

I have an M130 and keep my entire state loaded. At present, it takes a whopping 1.4Megs (1432k). That's close to 400 caches! I don't forsee running out of caches to find on a day-to-day basis. When I plan on visiting another city, I just hotsync another pocket query.

I use CacheMate. It's taking up something like 2003K, but I've got over 1,100 Benchmarks loaded and they tend to have very long descriptions.

So, yes you can be functional with 2MB, you just can't load as much.

It doesn't have to be that big. Currently, my largest PQ file is only about 200K, and it has the closest 100 caches that I have not found yet. Plenty of room left on my Visor Deluxe.
