Mark 42
Can I use THIS IMAGE to make my own stickers, or would that be a copyright violation? (I would only use them on my own caches) I realize no one would probably ever know, but I wanted to ask the owners of the rights to the image, and decided others may want to know as well, so I asked here instead of via email "I'm not Responsible... just ask my wife, She'll confirm it" Quote Link to comment
Snoogans
I would like to know too. Sngans If you are not failing now and again, it's a sign you're playing it safe. - Woody Allen Quote Link to comment
Team GPSaxophone
The logo itself is ok to reproduce, as long as it is unaltered and not on items you intend to sell. In the logo and usae guidelines, license is granted as long as the lifetime supply is not to exceed 25 units. This means you'd have to ask if you want more (a sig item, perchance) I think these stickers are copyrighted, but I'd have to go out and find one of my caches to check it personally. +Doc-Dean
If you plan to make more than 25, just ask Jeremy for permission. He has indicated that reasonable requests are unlikely to be denied. Free your mind and the rest will follow Quote Link to comment
Mark 42
If you click the image above (which I assume is a photo of the actual sticker) it shows the larger image (which is what I would use to make my own stickers). I may just buy them, but I can start making one right now, and have it ready for Friday so I can place a cache. I may also just place the cache w/o a sticker. I can always add it later. +Team GPSaxophone
I looked at the larger image and didn't see any copyright info. I would assume that this falls under the 'lifetime use of 25' clause. I would email Jeremy for clarification, just don't plan on selling any of them. They will have to be for your own personal use. +Mark 42
They can't copyright the color green, can they? Maybe I should just design my own stencil and paint it on. I can do it in white letters and make it look all military like, with a "handle at your own risk" disclaimer on it (maybe a "Do not eat" one as well?) Quote Link to comment
woodsters
In some places, "Handle at your own risk" may cause alarm...lol Brian www.woodsters.com My Stats Found: 70 Hidden: 2 Quote Link to comment
Mark 42
I would only use that in places where there are lots of muggles who might plunder the cache... like under the bleachers at Seahawk Stadium. "I'm not Responsible... just ask my wife, She'll confirm it" Quote Link to comment
Team GPSaxophone
They can't copyright the color by itself, but there is something in the copyright law about creating something 'in the likeness of' a copyrighted image. Let's see you make one with the Golden Arches and try and tell McDonald's you didn't copy it. Took sun from sky, left world in eternal darkness Quote Link to comment
