Pantalaimon
Has anybody come across an item called a "Dry Box." I saw one in the back of my Mom's jeep. When I asked about it, she said she got it at WalMart for about $5. It's a plastic container that looks suspiciously like an ammo box, and it has the same type of latch and an O-ring to keep it water resistant. Has anyone had any experience with these? +kitsune
I had something that might be a lot like what you're talking about -- orange bin, rubber gasket in the lid, latch, etc. Worked well in the Florida humidity in keeping things dry, but one of the sides cracked during my most recent move. +The Leprechauns
Yes, I've hidden two dry boxes and found several others of varying brands. They come in hard plastic varieties as well as flexible containers. I got mine at K-Mart in the sporting goods section for $6.99. They were a little bit BIGGER than a .50 cal ammo box. Both my placements have held up well to the elements, but one of them didn't hold up to stupid geocachers. Someone couldn't figure out how to unsnap the lid (same as on a metal ammo box) so they tore the hinges, which are made of plastic. Ammo cans are indestructible. The plastic dry boxes that I found were all in fine shape. x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x I was formerly employed by the Department of Redundancy Department, but I don't work there anymore. Dru Morgan
Do a search for "Dry Box" (including quotes) and you will find more containers than you can shake a travel bug at. Ever notice that anyone that caches less than you do is a moron, while anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac? -Dru Morgan Quote Link to comment
+Ltljon
I've been using one for close to 2 years now that I got at Wal-mart for 7 or 8 bucks. Seemed ok the last time I checked the cache. Quote Link to comment
