+geospotter Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 OK, now that I have my new Meridian, I'd like to load some maps. Does anyone have MapSend Topo they'd like to sell cheap? geospotter Quote
+JetSkier Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 Did you get an SD memory card? You'll need one to load maps on a Meridian. Quote
justincredible76 Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 Just got a Meridian, too, and I love it! Do you have to have an SD card? Is there not enough space on the GPS for a map? Where to get SD cards cheap? thx Quote

Is there not enough space on the GPS for a map? thx Yes, you *need* an SD card to use MapSend *user uploadable maps*. The only RAM on the Meridian line is dedicated to the basemap (the default internal map you see that comes pre-loaded on the unit) and the operating system firmware. If you get an SD card, make sure and purchase an SD card reader/writer also...they are cheap and will speed up transferring the maps from the PC to the SD card by a *very wide* margin. Quote
justincredible76 Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 Does it have to be a Magellan Meridian SD card, or will a Sandisk Secure Digital-type card work? Or, basically, will any SD card work? thx Quote
dboggny Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 i have two "no name" cards, they both work SR and dboggny. Quote
+geospotter Posted December 10, 2002 Author Posted December 10, 2002 Nevermind. I picked up MapSend Topo on ebay for $30. geospotter Quote
