Khlash
I recently purchased the Magellan Meridian Gold and I generally pleased with it. My question is this. Do you think its worth it to spend another 60 dollars of so and get the Platinum? Or should I just keep what i have. The compass would be nice i guess. I dont know about the barometer. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Team Spending Time, Saving Cache
I just went with the Platinum (for the compass) and am glad I did. The only thing that stinks is the instructions say that you have to re-calibrate it when you switch batteries (it's not hard though). I got the Platinum for $257 at http://www.compuplus.com/insidepage.php3?sid=67h7v1qk6beh4s6&id=819 And there is a $50 rebate on the GPS or a $75 if you buy software along with the GPS. PS I love the unit so far! Live to Cache... Cache to Live... Quote Link to comment
+Stunod
I like having the compass on the Plat...great for pointing you the right way when you are not moving. The barometer has not been usefull to me at all. "Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand." Quote Link to comment
+embra
I like the compass a lot for geocaching; but I guess it might come down to how much $60 is worth to you. I've not found the barometer very useful, either. BTW, although instructions are to recalibrate after battery changes, you'll probably find that it's not always necessary. I recalibrate only when I notice that it's getting out of whack. Max Often wrong but seldom in doubt Quote Link to comment
