Hard case for digital camera?

Recommended Posts

Those pelican cases are pretty cool. I have one I found in the trash behind the fitness center here on campus. It had a body fat measuring device in it and they had taken the instrument out and must have decided they did not need the case. I had no idea how expensive they were until I tried to get my brother one also. They make awesome traveling gun cases. The one I got will hold 2-4 handguns very nicely. The smaller cases seem a bit more reasonably priced if you need a really tough case. They are watertight and you could easily stand on them with out hurting the contents. The smallest case they sell may make a good travel case for a digital camera. I just carry mine in a well-padded soft case in my backpack. So far no problem, and I have taken several spills with it while geocaching and no problem.

I have a Pelican case for my Sony Cyber-shot. The camera has a rather odd L-shaped configuration, with a long Zeiss lens barrel on one side. It was a snap to create a snug fit in the case using the pull-out foam blocks. However, I only use it when transporting in the camera rough conditions, or if I think it might get wet. It's too cumbersome to use on a daily basis.
