Fixing a DROP Error into the Wrong Cache

So, here a simple one, I hope!

A cacher logged a cache of mine and dropped a TB in it.

Problem is, they ACTUALLY visited a cache down the road.

Now, there's a log, and a resident TB (resident online only).

No problem deleting the 'Found It' log, she's already logged the correct cache after we talked.

Now, what do we do with the Travel Bug?

If she deletes her 'Drop' log, what happens? I assume it doesn't revert back to her inventory, does it? Where does it 'go'? (Of course, if it DOES end up back in her inventory, all problems are solved!)

But, assuming that doesn't happen, she doesn't have the Tracking Code, and she's already out of the area. AND, if she did have it, I wouldn't want her to GRAB it and DROP it in the correct cache. My cache has never had a TB and I don't want it to reflect a history.

Even if I mark it 'Missing' and contact the TO to drop it into the correct cache, it'll show in my cache's history.

Even if I go to the cache it's now in, get the code (assuming it's still there) and either give it to the cacher or Grab/Drop it myself, it'll still show up in my cache's history.

So, how can I correct the mistake and end up with the dadgum thing being dropped into the real cache, and NEVER into mine?

Is this only a Groundspeak-fixable thing?

Thanks for your impending advice.

Deleting the Drop log does not remove the TB from the inventory. The TB owner or she as the dropper can do is log it as Retrieved, then Drop it in the correct cache. Since she doesn't have the code, this would be painful. I guess it depends on if the TB owner is still active, whether or not they'd be responsive and correct it. (It's in their interest that the TB shows up in the correct cache.)

Yes, this will show the TB has having been in your cache. But is it really important that it doesn't? How many TBs have "visited" your cache? This would just be one of those, essentially.

Groundspeak MIGHT be able to remove the history; I'm not sure about that. You could ask.

Hey - just realized I was responding to a veteran. :)

Thanks, Tricia.

In the grand scheme of things, I suppose it doesn't matter if it shows up in the history, but to me it does. Aside from being just inaccurate, this is a very tongue-in-cheek cache and I want it to be 'just so'.

I think I'm gonna have to go to GS for advice........unless somebody from HQ is lurking around here???
