+Daisy&me
Being a compulsive programmer, one of the first things I did after receiving my Sportrak Pro was to hook it up to my PC and write a program to interogate its output. I found something I can't explain: the GPSr reports the position and signal strength of two satellites, 120 and 122 that do not appear on the GPSr's satellite display and it does not appear to use them to calculate a fix. Does anyone know what these two satellites are? Quote Link to comment
+jeremyp
This is a total guess: They may be the European EGNOS satellites. This is wild speculation: They may be special military satellites to make military GPS more accurate. ------- jeremyp The second ten million caches were the worst too. http://www.jeremyp.net/geocaching Quote Link to comment

Further examination of the data shows that 120 and 122 are geo-stationary so that ties in with them being WAAS or EGNOS. Well, you learn something new every day, as they say. Quote Link to comment

Type EGNOS into the text box at the top, hit the button and hey presto! more info than you'll ever need. ------- jeremyp The second ten million caches were the worst too. http://www.jeremyp.net/geocaching Quote Link to comment
+Team Paradise
Check here to see the current status of EGNOS and here for more general info about the system. Steve If you can see the 'light at the end of the tunnel', it's usually a train coming ! Quote Link to comment
