+stu_and_sarah
Looking on Streetmap.co.uk this morning, it appears you can only zoom to street level, or 'road atlas' level, and the 25000:1 maps seem to be missing. Is this happening to everyone else? I can't find any notice on their site about it. (They may be 50000:1, but in any case, it's the maps with rights of way and contours I'm on about) Cheers, Stu Quote Link to comment
SlytherinAlex
Golly gosh.. you are right. The 1:50000 maps are gone. I wonder if their licence ran out on 1st Nov? Alex. +Huga
Eeeek! And yet you can still link to the 1:50000 maps: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?grid2map?X=551500&Y=262900&zoom=4 And oddly, once you're there, you can search and display other 1:50000s - try searching for a new postcode at the bottom of that page and then zooming out... Weird. -- **Mother is the name of God on the lips of all children** Quote Link to comment
SlytherinAlex
Looks like things are back to normal now. Must have been a temporary glitch. A member of Team Slytherin - geocachers extraordinare. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/default.aspx?A=19781 Quote Link to comment

Not quite... checking from the link which works, the URL is: http://www...uk/streetmap.dll?grid2map?X=.... The new, broken one is: http://www...uk/newmap.srf?x=..... It seems there are two ways to look at a map. The new one doesn't give 50000:1 maps. Manually changing the 'z' value in the new one also bypasses the 50000:1. Change to z=1 and you get street level. z=2 the same. z=3 gives road atlas. Looks like these might be on their way out. I hope not. Multimap still has topo maps, but I don't like their format. +naffita
A reply from streetmap. Due to a change in the licencing with our data supplier we can no longer offer these maps. We hope that this will only be temporary whilst we look for a sponsor for these maps. Quote Link to comment
+Teasel
Oh dear! Let's hope the grid2map links continue to work until such time as they sort out their sponsorship! GeocacheUK - resources for the UK Geocaching community. Quote Link to comment
