  1. Unroll? Aren't logs usually little notebooks? Oh, you mean those fiddly so called caches in film cans that seem to have taken over.
  2. Some of who are not in the first flush of youth can remember our mums using a podger to pound the washing in a dolly tub. It was a copper inverted funnel shaped thing on a long handle, and was thought to be slightly posher than a dolly peg.
  3. You can still hide whatever you want, wherever you want. That hasn't changed at all, and never will. However - if you want to list your hide here you have to accept that the reviewers will use their judgement in deciding whether to let you list it on their site! Your call! Am I being naive? Yes, you most certainly are. The reviewers will apply that as a rule, and not a guideline. As for keehotee's comment " the reviewers will use their judgement whether to let you list it on their site" That is where things have gone wrong, some of them think it really is THEIR site. I signed up to GS and agreed to THEIR rules, I did not sign up to GAGB, their rules are purely for their members, unfortunately the reviewers don't see it that way.
  4. Thats a DING at last. err, sauce on that one then please? Source for the answer: It's the one given at my local quiz night. Rule one applies "The question master is always right" Rule two "If the question master is wrong, refer to rule one"
  5. This seems to have died. So, one we had in our local last week: Of the 50 American states, how many still have the death penalty?
  6. Get a couple of tins of paint for models, Humbrol or airfix, there is more than enough in them for a paint job on an ammo box. Green and brown and mix up as you go along using the same brush for both colours.
  7. There seems to be a great deal of angst about one group of so-called cachers who have pinched a few TB's. Their only difference is that they are self-righteously boasting about it. Have a look at the number of TB's that have gone missing, there are thousands, all taken by someone who does not then log them. No boasting, no log and no trace of the TB, but taken just the same, and by people who think of themselves as genuine cachers. TB's dissapear all the time, you leave them in a box and then they take their chances, you win some you lose some, and you're lucky if your TB last very long. AS for any interest from plod, you must be joking.
  8. PC Plod was the cop in children's books by Enid Blyton "Noddy in toytown" also a tv show.
  9. It won't matter how old your GPS is, mine is one of the original etrex's and it works well enough. gsak will recognise it if you have the right connection and the correct port.
  10. You got in one. As someone used to say "Its not about the numbers" The huge upsurge of lame film can hides is mainly the reason I have virtually stopped caching, wandering round a field finding a film can on each side is not my idea of an interesting time. As for riding along a road and stopping at each sign post, I can think of better ways of wasting fuel.
  11. GAGB are in no position to insist on anything. They are a club, who seek to help cachers by giving guidelines and seeking blanket permission from landowners. The reviewers are bound by Groundspeak's rules and any interpretation of those rules is something that has been frowned on in the past.
  12. You do need permission. I have no idea who to contact, perhaps finding out would be a good exercise for when you place another cache. I do wonder what you expect to learn from placing a film can behind a green cable box? You will learn that when someone advises that film cans are not waterproof they are not telling lies, and from some of the other posts in this thread you will also have learned that they are not too popular. What you will most certainly not learn is how to find an interesting and good spot for a cache. It seems you are intent on placing it anyway so any advice from more experienced cachers may be wasted.
  13. ODPM recomendation On page 11 about libraries sports and leisure, but it was in 2004.
  14. We had this one in our local a couple of weeks ago. Why is a camel hair brush called 'a camel hair brush'
