+DARKSIDEDAN
Saw this Posted on a Geocaching Facebook Page. What is everyone's opinion on this? Hopefully this won’t happen to Virtual and Webcam Caches too. Quote Link to comment

Virtual and webcam caches with long-gone owners just become open slather for anyone wanting an easy way to pad their stats. 8 Quote Link to comment

Dan, the provision for this has been around for a while, From the guidelines, Quote If you currently own a Virtual or Webcam Cache, you must maintain the cache page and logs, respond to inquiries from geocachers, and check the physical location periodically. Most people are pretty good at managing this but like any cache they should be maintained. Quote Link to comment
+A J Pombo
I hope other cache types follow this rule. An inactive owner cannot, for example, check the logbook and delete "fake logs". 1 Quote Link to comment
+DARKSIDEDAN
Like there is flexibility and open to interpretation with the publication of geocaches. It would be good if there was the same when it came time to archive a cache. Quote Link to comment

Well said Matt, maintenance is the key Quote Link to comment
+Wacka
There is one in my area that has recently been disabled for inactivity of the owner. It will be archived as the owner died probably 5 -10 years ago. It should be replaced as there are pretty active cachers here. He also had about 30 traditional caches in a large area wooded park. As the caches are disabled and archived as they are damaged or disappear local cachers that have found them are placing new ones at the same locations. Quote Link to comment
