That's all alright but when I go on there's never anyone there!!

I still prefer MM though

By the way if }-Marc B-{ could make himself known then that would be helpful

I said the same thing. But a friend of mine downloaded it for me without my knowledge - the first I knew about it was when a message from him popped up to say hello!

I've not looked back since. Very good way to stay in touch - better than ICQ by a long shot. Allows multiple people to join a conversation, and send files quickly and easuly while discussing them.

Very useful, and highly recommended - hell it's not often you get something for free from Micro$oft.

How did he do that? If a friend of mine downloaded anything to my PC without my knowledge, he would soon find out from me that he shouldn't be doing things like that.

I don't use any Microsoft products for serious Internet stuff e.g. web browsing, e-mail, etc, it's just too dangerous.

We frequently use each others computers when we are round each others homes to check emails and the like.

I know him well enough that he wouldn't download any serious twaddle (dodgy programs, or pornography or anything similar) to my computer. He did it out of kindness (to get me to use it) and to be fair, I do get a lot of use from it.

Fair enough. I can't see what harm MSM would be though.

I'd still get pretty upset unless he asked me first.

Somebody finds a security hole in MSM, exploits it and starts uploading viruses through it - or using it to control your computer.

Theoretically, I doubt if MSM is less secure than say IRC or AOL or any other instant messaging product, unless it has brain dead "execute everything I see" functionality like Outlook has (or had), but my theory is that hackers go for the most popular products. I haven't had an e-mail virus infection since I stopped using Outlook/Outlook Express because people don't write viruses for other mail clients.
