No logs from friends on the dashboard page

Since at least this morning, friends' logs have no longer been displayed in the dashboard in the "Latest Activity" area. For found logs, only the number of the logs per friend and day are displayed. If a friend only has one found log per day (here from February 21st, 2024), it will no longer be displayed at all.

 

 

Clicking on such an entry opens the search page for all of the friend's founds. To read a friend's log, I have to scroll to the corresponding day, click on a cache there, scroll down to the logs in the cache listing and look for the friend in the logs.

 

Is this a bug or a feature to make reading a friend's log more difficult?

The dashboard will only display 5 (?) caches in the list, if friends find more than that on a single day you've always had to click through.

 

If a friend's only found 1 cache on a date, it should still be displayed, are you saying that's not the case?

I cannot confirm that.

It is only summarized, if the cacher has a lot of finds on that day. If the friend has only a few caches found on that day, it shows each log.

At the moment only friends with many caches per day are listed. I didn't realize that logs would no longer be displayed in such cases. I usually don't even look at my friends' logs. Unfortunately, from my point of view, such a display makes little sense, as viewing the logs is now very time-consuming. But this point seems clear now, thanks.

 

The friend who currently only has a cache has already appeared in my dashboard. This friend's response now revealed that he had indeed changed his settings. Great, thanks @werla.

I have never seen a single entry from a friend on my dashboard. I always wished I had, but since I have a few friends and it can't really be that every single one of them has the ‘Show my activity...’ setting deactivated on their own (that would really be a crazy coincidence!), I always assumed that I completely misunderstood the feature or that it had never worked on the entire site.

 

After all, the option is active by default - at least it was for me. If I'm not mistaken, it would have to be deactivated specifically.

 

I'm all the more surprised to read here that some of you actually get something in your feed. Difficult for me to explain.

As of today, for me, the little arrow icon to the right of "Latest Activity", the unlabelled one, needs to be pointing UP for the activity to be seen.  If it's pointing down, there's nothing below.  Try clicking it.

 

This is the opposite of the screenshot at the top of this page.  I can't explain this.

It should be straight below "Recently Viewed", middle column.

 

If you're on a phone, all bets are off.  It needs a lot of pixels horizontal if it's going to show the full three columns of stuff.  EDIT: not available on my phone even in landscape; it only shows the relatively unimportant first column.  Layout logic has always needed work - why can't it move everything into a single column?!? - though the page is otherwise brilliant.

OK, got it.  I was testing this on a phone, and yeah, the "Latest Activity" column was not shown.  And when back on a PC, I also needed to select "The new dashboard experience" because the old dashboard doesn't show Latest Activity.

 

AND my own "Friends Settings" had "Show my activity on my friends' Dashboards" (at the bottom of this page) not selected for some reason.  As I understand it, my friends then would not see my Latest Activity.  So I've re-enabled that on my own settings.  I do see Latest Activity from some friends.  I don't know if that setting is de-selected by default, or if I had de-selected it at some point.

 

Not sure about the OP's issue, but at least my own Latest Activity may now be mostly functional, at least when I switch to the New Dashboard to view it.

When I checked my setting a couple of months back when the question came up, it was unticked and I'm pretty sure that, at some point at least, that was the default as it's not something I would have intentionally unticked. That said, the logic in that part of the Privacy settings is rather bizarre, with the first checkbox needing to be checked to block stuff and the second one needing to be unchecked to block stuff.
