BOO70
I am trying to use the Geocache app in Beijing, China, however the GPS location the geocache app presents is not accurate to my real location. I have to use 'amap' app to see my true accurate location and switch back to the geocache app to roughly guess where my location is and how far away the geocaches are away from me. Is it possible to recalibrate my gps location so it is accurate on the geocache app too, please? There are loads of geocaches here so surely not everyone experiences this issue too lol. Thank you Quote Link to comment

Long story short, the Chinese government restricts the accuracy of most maps and geolocation apps, and fines companies and individuals who are not in compliance with those restrictions. I suspect that is the issue here, so I would not anticipate a fix unless/until the PRC changes the law. You can read about it here. 1 Quote Link to comment
ZDude666
In Mainland China there is a GPS offset, so if you are looking at geocaches on the map it will be off by a bit. However, if you use the compass in the geocaching app for navigation it points you to the correct location. This forum thread goes more into it https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/topic/348939-how-do-i-play-geocaching-in-china/ Quote Link to comment
+fdpotato
It is not a problem of your GPS coordinates. You can reply on the coordinates showing on Geocaching app to find/hide caches. In fact, it is related to the wrong maps on your smartphone. Here are a few solutions: 1. Upgrade to Premium member. Then you can use the Trails map type in Geocaching app. You can see a perfect match between your location and the map. 2. Visit www.geocaching.com to use the online map. The website map is accurate in China, too. 3. Download 'L4C Pro' app on your smartphone. You can import the Geocaching caches into the new app. The L4C map is correct, too. Hope this may clarify. Enjoy. Quote Link to comment
+Viajero Perdido
It's OpenStreetMap that gets the credit for accurate maps in China, such as used by the Groundspeak maps. It's harder for a government to coerce a volunteer project (OSM) than a business (Google) that hopes to make money in China. Forced inaccuracy. Cheers from the edge of China. Quote Link to comment
