Alderney and Sark

Kosovo is not on this list.

Correct.  Kosovo is not on the UN list, and Kosovo does not have its own country designation on geocaching.com - this cache in Pristina, for example, is listed in Serbia.

As for Sark's ISO 3166-3 Alpha-3 code, it is apparently XSQ.  And when Kosovo finally makes it on the UN list, they already have an Alpha-3 code waiting for them: XKO.

I'm all for adding new countries, but I don't follow what exceptions you are referencing.

Ok, forget about Kosovo.

The difference between Alderney and Sark seems to be the following: Both sub-jurisdictions within the Bailiwick of Guernsey have a sovereign right to raise taxes. Alderney has transferred this right to Guernsey. Sark has not. For the purpose of statistic about finances, Sark needs to be listed separately from Guernsey. Legally, Sark is not a separate country from Guernsey.

OK.  Kosovo aside, your latest post appears to be more of a case that neither Sark nor Alderney should be listed separately from Guernsey, and not a convincing argument as to why both Alderney and Sark should be listed as separate countries.

One other difference, of course, is that Sark is on the UN list, and Alderney is not.  And since Groundspeak generally determines what is a "country" or not based on that list, and doesn't appear to delve into the reasons why a particular region is listed, this brings us right back to moun10bike's post above.
