+EatSleepCacheRepeat_
I would like to create a Play Anywhere cartridge based on the old "insult to win" games I remember playing as a kid. The two I recall were, Monkey Island and the sword fight pirates where one pirate would shout out an insult, and you had to pick from a list of comebacks, and only by picking the best comeback could you advance to becoming a sword master. Another I vaguely recall was insult arm wrestling. I have been downloading and looking at Play Anywhere cartridges online for build ideas and I think the layout would work, but this is my first attempt at a Wherigo so I have very little knowledge beyond my reading and playing. What I am wondering is; Firstly, do you think this is possible? and if so, what is the best platform to use. I have had a fiddle with Wherigo Kit this morning looking at their Lights Out & Questions and Answer Cartridges. +Forest-Ghost
I think the Wherigo kit lights cartridge out would work perfect. Just string together a long list of multiple choice questions and throw in some cool pirate themed locations. You could even use the same dialogue options from monkey island. If you wanted to make it more complex like when you could "learn" additional insults in monkey island you might have to use urwigo but I think you could mostly get the same effect in kit. 1 Quote Link to comment

I was wondering if "learn" was possible to do.... Do you know if Urwigo has the Play Anywhere option for this type of game? I will be creating it from a distance so I will need that ability with whatever I end up doing. Quote Link to comment
+Forest-Ghost
Yes you can do play anywhere with urwigo. If your just doing inputs/questions than any of the builders will work fine. If you want zones relocated to your current location, you might check out earwigo as it has a play anywhere option built into the program. I believe earwigo moves the zones to where ever your current location is. You can also do play anywhere style zones set to current location with urwigo but it requires lua coding. +EatSleepCacheRepeat_
I created a basic game - but I seemed to have missed a step somewhere. I selected Play Anywhere after importing it into Wherigo but it still wants me to go to the start point. What have I done wrong? Quote Link to comment

+Forest-Ghost
I forgot that the starting zone is required in kit. If you are okay with having a start location at specific coordinates you could just list it as a regular Wherigo. This will be by far the easiest option. Another option if you want to make it play anywhere is to import the kit cartridge into urwigo and then change the inputs to be an on start event and make the starting zone active after the player has gotten through all of the inputs. This would require becoming familiar with how to code though and also with using urwigo. Both of which have a pretty steep learning curve. Edited May 13, 2019 by Forest-Ghost 1 Quote Link to comment

I am hoping I can find a way to do this despite not having much programming experience.. I have now downloaded the Wherigo builder, and the patch to open on my system. I've imported a few games to see how they work in there. I even tried to recreate something similar from a shared Play Anywhere cartridge, but even in the Wherigo builder the "Play Anywhere" box is unavailable despite being a play anywhere cartridge..?? Am I missing something here? I'm still feeling hopeful that I will get something to work! Quote Link to comment

Thanks, Unfortunately, it seems like the only one I can figure out how to use (sort of), and can accommodate what I need text wise... Seems I have hit another wall... Quote Link to comment
+Tungstène
I noticed that the version number of Internet Explorer is critical. IE v8 and v9 won't work. IE v11 will. Quote Link to comment
