GPS Accuracy - Current State for Handhelds?

Recommended Posts

Ran into this GPS board on a random webpage promising centimeter GPS accuracy. Since I consider my current GPS (OR 450) to be accurate to 20-30 feet, centimeter got my attention.  Since the board is $595 and likely takes a bit more power than a pair of AAs, not a fair comparison. But, it peaked my interest in what is the current accuracy of a handheld GPS?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Normal GPS with WAAS is, at best 1 to 2 meter.  You should be getting this with any handheld in perfect conditions.

Centimeter accuracy requires a base station.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_kinematic  Which is what they are doing.  You need to have a base station that communicates with the rover unit.  They claim 0.75 meter (best case) without the RTK active.
