+mesillywoohoo Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I have Travel bugs in the wild. One has been going since 2010 and still going and has gone 9176.1 miles. I was just wondering if I could get one that stays with me but dips into caches to show where it's been with me? Is that weird? Quote
+cerberus1 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Is that weird? Nope, Kinda popular now. Have fun ! Quote
+cerberus1 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Friends have one they do the same with, but only when the kids are along. They figured it was an easy way to keep record of caches found, if the kids ever want their own accounts later. Quote
+mesillywoohoo Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 I have one in the wild in memory of my dd and I've bought 3 new ones to release in Va Beach. But I really want one to stay with me and travel with me Quote
+Manville Possum Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I have several that I only dip. A Found it, a DNF, an EarthCache and others. Sure it's weird, but isn't geocaching kinda weird? Quote
+lee737 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) You can get trackable backpacks etc, or a trackable patch..... custom made for what you describe. My son is getting a little collection of geocoins, including one for his 500th find, no way they will ever get released! They live in our backpack so he can track them where we go. I have a special memory bear that travels with me and I think I'll connect the whale cachkinz on her and she'll come with us to caches. Quote
+CascadeHandmade Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I know a few cachers who do that. They got tired of their travel bugs (that had been released) getting lost/stolen/going missing. Now they have one or two special ones that they just carry with them and 'visit' to the caches they find. Then they use the bugs online page to log a 'travel diary' of photos with their bug. Kinda like the 'roaming gnome' idea. My hubby has a Lego figure he takes everywhere. It doesn't have a tracking number on Geocaching.com or anywhere else; but he has created a photo journal of places it's been - Spain, Italy, Scotland, France... Quote

I am a bit of a caching newbie but I got a trackable patch for fathers day today which I plan to put on my caching bag like your idea but how do u go about logging these visits? TIA Quote

TIA Now that it's in your inventory, on every cache you want it to visit , you simply enter it "Visited" on the Trackable Action drop down, just before you hit that Submit Log Entry button. We have friends who visit only "5" terrain caches with theirs. Quote
