+rty90410
Hi, sorry for what I assume must be a common question, but I'm getting very frustrated trying to figure this out! We went on our first trip today armed with waterproof boxes full of goodies to swap, but I found it impossible to enter my cache from the app, in fa t I can't seem to find much info on hiding my own caches at all! Idiots guide please anyone? Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
Hi, sorry for what I assume must be a common question, but I'm getting very frustrated trying to figure this out! We went on our first trip today armed with waterproof boxes full of goodies to swap, but I found it impossible to enter my cache from the app, in fa t I can't seem to find much info on hiding my own caches at all! Idiots guide please anyone? The App isn't designed for hiding caches. It could be handy in the field for getting an idea of where other caches are in relation to your selected spot. But what you need are coordinates at the chosen hiding spot, and there are other free Apps that are simpler, just to get coords. You'll probably need a desktop PC's full-fledged web browser. Tablet browsers seem to confuse the web form. Here's a place to start: https://www.geocaching.com/play/hide Don't skip any steps! If you understand and follow the guidelines (linked above), it's fine to place those containers now. They're, in theory, permanent placements, so having them in place days or weeks in advance is cool. You can go back and check to be sure they're great hiding spots. For example, since they aren't listed, if they're being found by passers-by, that's no good. But if the spots turn out to be very quiet, you can be sure everything's just right before you publish them. Good luck! Edited May 1, 2016 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
+noncentric
Please be sure to read through the Hiding guidelines: https://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx There are a number of rules about hiding, so you'll want to make sure your planned hiding spots meet these rules before putting out your containers. Otherwise, you may have to go back out again to collect them all. Quote Link to comment
+rty90410
Thank you for the help and replies, really looking forward to placing our first caches! I could create a waypoint on the app to log the co ordinates I'm assuming? Quote Link to comment
