Anyone else comin' to this event cache in central PA?

There is some work to be done and fun to be had. There are about 3.5 miles of trails at the park. Our goal is to redo the blazes, and clear fallen limbs etc. from the trails. The park will be providing the paint and brushes that we will need. I’ll check about tools such as saws. Don’t forget to bring your work gloves and dress appropriately.

Big and Little Leprechaun will be there with bells on. Well, actually, we wear bells on our pointy-toed shoes ALL the time. It keeps the grizzlies away.

Does this mean you'll be there, MissJenn? Excellent. I needed another handler for IV Warrior.

I trust the presence of Little Lep will keep Older Lep in line...

Well, we're drawing close to event time. I just did a quick check of the weather, and there's a chance of showers, but we're not going to let a little rain spoil our fun, now are we. Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

Nothing to see here, move along.

We'll likely bring the propane grill and a couple of burgers and buns. You can certainly use the grill, if you like. I hear grilled potato salad is amazingly delicious when marinated in Coke.

Well, I was figuring on bringing hamburger and hotdogs, enough for everyone. What about drinks, someone want to bring drinks, or just bring your own?

Just returned from the grocery store. The Leprechauns will be bringing a vegetable tray and our secret Irish recipe dipping sauce*, that has been passed down from one generation to the next.

*ranch dressing.

Since IV will have enough burgers for all of us, we will bring some drinks instead.

The coordinates listed on the cache page: where is that? I mean, is it a trailhead? the park office? your campsite? (we are not camping this time)

Rain doesn't bother me all that much - especially now that, after 1 year of looking, I found the rainpants that goes with my raincoat - but how will the actual blazing happen if the rains come? I s'pose we can just regroup and replan depending on what it's doing at the time we are ready to start...

The coords are for the park office. There isn't much parking there, but if you park at the pool lot, it's only a short walk to the office. If you come off Route 322 and follow the signs for the park from the exit, the pool lot will be on your right, and the park office on your left. There is s a trail from the pool lot to the office. They have a shed up behind the office, where I imagine we'll get the paint and tools from. I'm going out tomorrow morning to get the stuff from the ranger. He said he'll have paint, brushes, stencils, and some saws and stuff for us. Those of us that are camping will walk over to the office area, and we can split up from there to tackle the trails. With the numbers that we have coming, I'm hoping we can get everything done in one afternoon. It's pretty obvious where the trails go, there are just some areas that could use a little definition. The blazes will accomplish that. Some of the existing blazes are still quite good, but some are very faded. There is also some dead limbs that need removed from trails, and some places that trees could stand to be trimmed back a little from the trail. If it should happen to rain, and we can't do the actual blazing, we can still clear the brush etc from the trails.

I just checked the weather, and while we're currently under a flood watch until Saturday, it looks like Sunday should be OK. They're saying chance of AM showers on Sunday, but only a 20% chance, and calling for highs in the upper 70's

Well, the event was a success despite the rain Saturday night. No, we didn't get to do the blazing, but there was more than enough trimming/clearing of brush and limbs to keep us busy on the three main trails. Thank you to everyone who showed up to help Sunday.

A special thank you to MissJenn and TaranWanderer for having the foresight to bring along a small gas grill, and for cooking the burgers and dogs for us. I don't know what I was or wasn't thinking there, good thing you two were.

As Hank Hill would say, "I like my propane and my propane accessories." We were happy to use it!

Let's not talk about all the times that TW and I have been unprepared, sometimes not even having a towel with us!
