the website does not display new lines in my log

I've encountered a weird bug: I wrote a log, used new lines as usual to make the text more readable.

 

But after I submitted it, I starred at the following:

 

 

All the lines joined together! So I immediately went to the edit dialog to see what is wrong, but everything was perfect there:

 

 

I even deleted one of the empty lines (in case it was "wrongly" encoded or whatever), created it again with pressing Enter two times and saved. It didn't help.

 

So I am puzzled as to what is going on here? May it be somehow related to the fact that right after I submitted my log the website went unresponsive for a few minutes?

Remove the angle brackets you have around the word "hint" (and anywhere else I might have missed). Those "trick" the system into thinking the log contains HTML, so line returns are ignored.

Thank you for a quick reply, Moun10Bike! Yep, I really used angle brackets around the word "hint" and did not notice that this word was not displayed and might be the cause of this. I've always thought only BBcode was allowed.

 

I did a test and now I know I need to use < and > entities for displaying angle brackets.
