Katie One way to keep it simple on the first few would be to avoid the downloads, etc. Just get to the general area of the cache using the map.on the cache page, then use the GPSr to get to GZ. Katie It would probably be best to learn how to use your gps first. Have you read through the owner's manual? The full manual, not the "quick start" one. In the manual, ignore Garmin's direction to go to their website, and download your caches from Groundspeak's listings. http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/eTrex_10-20-30_OM_EN.pdf You can do some research by checking out the Help Center: http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php Help Center → Finding a Geocache http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.book&id=25 Geocaching 101 http://www.geocaching.com/guide/ I would suggest loading a few caches into your gps, and making your first attempts with caches that are larger than micros and have been found really recently. I would suggest leaving PQ's for later, when you are very familiar with your gps, and have found a few local caches. B. Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
Oops, I forgot... tell us what region/country you're in, and perhaps someone is near you. You could check for upcoming events in your area, and meet up with folks who can help in person, or take you under their wing. B. Quote Link to comment
+luvvinbird
Excellent advice given. The manual from Garmin's website is a must. The eTrex30 has fast become my favorite GPSr. I like it's small size and it feels perfect in my hands. Don't forget to add a map as the base map it comes with is very basic. Quote Link to comment
+popokiiti
I am sure you have already done this, but hope you have the Garmin Communicator downloaded. It is free! Quote Link to comment
