+scgirl
So which is better and what is the difference? Quote Link to comment
+splashy
Turning it off won't show you where you are, locking the screen shows you where you are, but touching won't effect the screen,(only a warning screen is locked) also the screen on gives you less battery life. Quote Link to comment

On my Montana, and I assume the Oregon is the same, if you enable battery saving and then lock, the first touch on the screen brings it back to life to show the current position and you only get the "Locked" warning if you press it again. +scgirl
Anyone have any issues with using either of these options? Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
If you turn it off, it will take awhile for the GPS to re-find the satellites and work out where it is... Unless you're not using it for a long time (eg half a day between caching) it's easier to leave it on, and lock the screen. Quote Link to comment
+splashy
@scgirl No problems with these options, what seems to be your problem with them? Quote Link to comment
+scgirl
Just wasn't sure if there were any bugs with using these 2 methods or if one was more reliable than the other. I'm probably overthinking it, I can do that sometimes! Quote Link to comment
