Herkjerk Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 A geocache member has decided to hold onto one of my trackables. They will not respond to my emails. Is there anything I can do? Quote
Gitchee-Gummee Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Do you mean the one that you marked as missing? For one thing, it's only been a month. IF the cacher that logged a Discovery took it. Things in life happen outside of geocaching. Maybe (s)he is busy with life. It doesn't look like that cacher has found any caches since that day. Hardly worth saying that it is "stolen". You've sent email(s), that's about what you can do. You did include your email address, did you not? Quote
Scratch Ankle Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I just had one that went missing 4 months ago and confirmed by CO that it was missing from his cache 3 months ago. A couple days ago it was picked up from that same cache by someone and is back in circulation. So don't count it out yet. More important, you seem highly agitated that the trackable is missing. Do some research and you will see this isn't all that unusual. It may not be the way it's supposed to be but it is the way it is. Just like shoplifting is part of the cost of doing business in a retail store and deadbeats are a part of the cost of doing business if you offer credit, lost trackables are part of the cost of the hobby. Lots of people get mad and refuse to release trackables any more because of it. You may find this idea has merit for you. If you're going to play the game you release and hope for the best. Accept that there are casualties and celebrate the ones that travel without issue . Quote
Pinkpiggy7 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I picked one up in a cache 2 weeks ago, which had last been logged by a person 2 years ago, they had not found a cache in that time and never been to the one I found it in. That cache had weekly finds, so it hasnt been sitting there all that time. It appears someone must have found it and just placed in in that cache after 2 years possibly sitting in a glove bo or someones house. So dont write it off as yet it could reappear Quote
Herkjerk Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Yeah I guess I may have jumped the gun a little, hoping it turns up. I been lucky with other trackables under a different username. They're all still in circulation. Quote
GeoLog81 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 The mails from GS are so poorly designed they tend to land in spam. I've lost a lot of mails from people contacting/answering me because 2/3 of GS posts landed to spam and I haven't noticed it. Just don't count on GS mail system as anyway reliable. Quote
