I found the cache, but it's not on the map. How do you add it to the total?

It depends on what you found. Could be an archived cache, could be a stage of a multicache, could be a newly placed cache that hasn't been published, could be a cache published on another site, could be a letterbox...

 

Did you sign a log book? Do you remember any other cachers names in that log book? If what you mean by "total" is your find count, that gets increased by the logging online of a cache.

 

Don't suppose you know the GC code for it? Or at least the coordinates.

 

edit: you haven't logged anything under this username, so I really don't know what "total" you are asking about.

What are you using to 'find' these caches?

 

The reason I ask is.... The cache could be 'Temporarily Disabled' or even Archived (owner never retrieved the container).

 

These caches won't show up on an iphone (geocaching app) search. Not that I've looked lately, but I don't think there's an option to include disabled in searches.

 

And/or if you pulled a Pocket query that doesn't include ' temporarily disabled' caches.
