How to attach an item to a travel bug

Hi we were given a number of plain Travel Bugs for Christmas and we want to find little things to attach to them so that we can set each one an individual goal. Can anyone tell us how to attach something to a travel bug so that it remains intact. We have come across so many TBs that are coming away the metal travel bug that we want to be sure ours stay together.

We are thinking of getting a variety of little mementoes form around the country to attach to our bugs. Any help appreciated.

With cable, go read the Snoogans' Tb Longevity Clinic pinned to the top of this forum. Everything you need to know and understand has been written up already.

I sometimes do the cable and ferrule, which I do admit works well.

Recently I started using small zip ties instead. They should hold up, and I have a bunch of them in the garage, and they are inexpensive. They are easily cut, but not easily broken.

If the 'item' is something like a keychain, I'll just use the split ring that is on it.

Just don't use that ball chain that comes with it --- they break or come apart too easily.

Thanks for these great ideas - I will try the small zip ties first. :)
