hoytvtecmach
I just completed a map to use for hunting. I use a GE image that I imported to Gimp where I enhanced it. It looked to be too large to work for a custom map (1280 x 1190 pixels) so I used Image Splitter to divide it into two Jpeg image files - ELK TOP and ELK BOTTOM . I then "orientated" them on GE and saved them as 2 separate KMZ files.I set draw orders at 56 & 57.I placed them on a micro sd card this way : Garmin/CustomMaps/ELK TOP,ELK BOTTOM . I placed it in my Garmin 62s and went to Map Selection to enable them . I was surprised to see they were shown as 1 map with both names . They show up together as I wanted so that works for me . I thought they would have to be enabled as separate maps. Has anyone else had this happen or should I have saved or made them differently? Quote Link to comment
insig
On the 62s, all KMZ files are enabled or disabled as a group. That is how it works for pretty much all of the Garmin handhelds that support KMZ files. HOwever,on the newer Oregon 600 they can be enabled or disabled individually. Quote Link to comment
+Mineral2
By the way, in Google Earth, you can place both of your jpegs (individually), line them up, but export them both together as a single kmz file. It doesn't really make a difference for functionality on the GPS, but might help you organize custom maps as you make more of them. Quote Link to comment
