+8Firm Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I like to cycle when i can and having been geocaching for a while now im looking at putting the two together the only difference being is that i dont wish to cycle round the houses. Im wondering if any cyclists/walkers out there in the northwest know of a really good scenic route that will take about two hours of my time has plenty of caches to look for and is in a really nice place. Currently looking on os maps but they dont show how good or bad a walk is and trying to find good satelite images of the area isnt much help either. Dont want to travel far and find ive wasted my time. Thanks Quote
+Jacaru & Wemnog Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Although I haven't done them myself, they are on the list of To Do's Grandad John's series Middlewood Circular would take you off road mostly and you could do it in two hour bursts, or longer if you fancied it. Here is a link to one of them. http://coord.info/GC1J9Y5 If you do it, let me know how you got on. Quote
+TheOldfields Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 You're aware that when you're looking at the map you can switch to ThunderForest OpenCycleMap? Quote
+8Firm Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Yes I'm aware of open cycle map but it doesn't show which I has lovely views just where the paths are. I have found a 12 and 20 mile cache series over on the Wirral so there on my list to do before kids are back in school Just need to find one around north Wales or maybe Yorkshire now Quote
+TheOldfields Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Good. Just wanted to check you knew that. Nothing more from me I'm afraid as we're a good deal further south than you. Quote

Sometimes a "cycle path" is a compressed gravel path wide enough to drive a car down with ease. Sometimes it's a muddy path barely 12 inches wide with stinging nettles on both sides leaning inwards, with six-foot high metal barriers at the end. Usually it's something in between, but if you're travelling any distance it's worth checking as best you can before you rely on a route you've planned. Quote
